My heart raced as a memory came rushing back to me. My vision blurred for a moment as I stared up at the pale blue sky, remembering the feel of my mother’s touch on my face before I left. My nose filled with her calming and familiar smell and for one peaceful but quick second, I felt as if I was still with her. I felt as if she was still looking over me, making sure I had a perfect easy path all around me. I looked ahead, as she looked back, both of us wanting to freeze the picture. But that was all it was, a faint memory, that lay in the back of my head, dormant except for strange moments like this.
