Maia could see it glimmering in the water. Sometimes it would fade for a minute, but then it would return with the sun, stronger and clearer than before. The ripples created beautiful circular patterns in the water. Once the illusion had caught her eye, there was no escaping its hold. She took no notice of the subtle changes in the water. Maia saw flashes of faces as they passed by the tiny body of water. She was at last pulled away from the picture in water by the calls of her family to come take a picture in front of the Taj Mahal.
